ABOUT

Hi, I’m Michelle.

I taught Classical languages for over a decade before I became a professional proofreader and copy editor.

I know from experience how demanding academic life can be. When I was a graduate student, the work was intense, and I often found little help in learning how to write academic papers. When I became a teacher, the students became the center of my work, and I had little time outside of teaching. Without collaborating with my colleagues, I would not have been able to participate in publishing our Latin textbook series.

After taking time off from academia to raise my family, I decided that I wanted to continue supporting academics in some way. I established One Blue Pen to support educators and students so that they can publish with confidence.

I accept lesson plans, textbooks, theses, dissertations, articles, and more. My expertise is in Classical languages, but don’t hesitate to contact me if your subject matter is different. One of the reasons I became a teacher is because I love to learn! Also, I’m happy to work with anyone whose first language is not English.

Please visit my FAQ page for any questions, and message me to work with me!
